JOB TITLE: JANITOR – LARGE CAMP
DEPARTMENT: HOUSING
DIRECT REPORT: HEAD CAMP ATTENDANT (CAMP MANAGER IF HCA N/A)

PURPOSE:

A big part of ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services is our cleaning and camp maintenance. The importance of a clean and well-maintained camp should never be underestimated. First impressions of any camp are made when the customer or visitor opens the door and steps inside. Even before that, as the camp is approached from the road, the general condition of the lease site and exterior of the camp are influencing the visitor’s impressions of us. Reporting to the Head Camp Attendant (Camp Manager if Head Camp Attendant not available), the Janitor position is a non-supervisory role, responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment throughout ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Meet daily with the Head Camp Attendant or Camp Manager to discuss daily work and cleaning assignments.
2. Thoroughly clean and maintain all areas of ARAMARK facilities, including but not limited to: the front entrance, hallways, washrooms, recreation rooms, office complexes, boot rooms, and utility rooms.
3. Cleaning duties may contain, but are not limited to: sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing walls, clean and sanitize designated areas.
4. Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and advise Camp Manager of weekly orders
5. Receive and distribute cleaning supplies to bunk houses.
6. Ensure all chemicals and cleaners are safely stored in proper storage containers and areas by complying will all WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Information System) procedures and policies.
7. When using cleaners, use amount of cleaner specified on the container to comply with WHMIS and safety procedures.
8. Receive and distribute clean linens to individual bunk houses. Remove all soiled linens and garbage.
9. Observe and report any repairs or damages in your work area to Head Camp Attendant or Camp Manager.
10. Empty and disinfect all garbage containers.
11. Keep entrances and boardwalks clear of snow and hazards. Keep site area clean at all times.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist with daily room counts as required.
2. Complete any Camp Attendant duties as required by Head Camp Attendant or Camp Manager.
3. Assist with the shut-down of each ARAMARK facility when required. This will include, but is not limited to: inventory reports, overall cleaning duties.
4. Comply with all WHMIS, HACCP, and Food Safe standards.
5. Comply with all ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services policies and procedures.
6. Any other duties as assigned by Camp Manager, Field Supervisor, Human Resources or Operations Manager.

INTERACTION WITH PATRONS AND PUBLIC:

The Janitor provides respectful and courteous service to all ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services clients and employees. Interaction and communication with clients and employees may be carried out by telephone or in person.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Janitors are required to perform a variety of physical duties within the position. A list of general physical requirements is provided below:

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
• Do a combination of standing, walking, squatting, kneeling or sitting.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand work, which requires full use of both hands.
• Ability to work with arms above shoulder height.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

All Janitors are required to work on a rotational schedule. Hours worked will transpire during weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. This position may be required to work split shifts. Janitors generally work in a very remote location where there is limited access to and from the ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services facility with extended travel to and from site. Travel to and from site will be provided by ARAMARK. Janitors will be required to perform duties in indoor and outdoor working conditions. Janitors primarily work alone with little or no supervision.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Janitors must be able to operate self powered equipment, and will occasionally operate a company vehicle.
2. Janitors must have a Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract.
3. Janitors must possess good communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
4. Must possess excellent customer service skills.
5. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little or no supervision.
6. Janitors must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.
7. Janitors must have 1 or more years experience in a related field of work, preferably the camp catering environment.
8. Janitors must be fluent and literate in the English language.
9. WHMS Certification is mandatory.
10. First Aid certification is an asset.
11. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), Basic or Advanced Food Safe training is job or site specific.
12. Knowledge of all ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services policies and procedures.
