JOB TITLE: HEAD CAMP ATTENDANT – LARGE CAMP
DEPARTMENT: HOUSING
DIRECT REPORT: CAMP MANAGER

PURPOSE:

A big part of ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services is our housekeeping and camp maintenance. The importance of a clean and well-maintained camp should never be underestimated. First impressions of any camp are made when the customer or visitor opens the door and steps inside. Even before that, as the camp is approached from the road, the general condition of the lease site and exterior of the camp are influencing the visitor’s impressions of us. Reporting to the Camp Manager, the Head Camp Attendant position supervises and coordinates all Camp Attendants and Janitors. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a cleaning regimen that reflects the high standards of ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Meet daily with Camp Manager to discuss any duties or requirements pertaining to work area.
2. Provide supervision, guidance and support to all Camp Attendants and Janitors. This will include, but is not limited to: training and development to all Camp Attendants and Janitors through coaching and mentoring, delegation of assigned job tasks, direction and assistance with personnel problems, and employee evaluation and performance management.
3. Meet daily with all Camp Attendants and Janitors to improve team communication. Meetings must include, but are not limited to: discussion of job duties or requirements pertaining to work area and workplace safety/hazard concerns.
4. Delegate tasks and assigned workload effectively to all Camp Attendants and Janitors. Ensure workload is completed efficiently based on time schedule requirements.
5. Ensure that Camp Attendant and Janitor duties are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Conduct spot checks and final inspections of accommodation and living areas. Assist Camp Attendants and Janitors with completion of all Camp Attendant and Janitor duties as per job descriptions.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist Camp Manager with all paperwork required for reporting purposes. This may include time sheets, and worker incident and accident reports.
2. Assist with the shut-down of each ARAMARK facility when required. This will include, but is not limited to: inventory reports, overall cleaning duties.
3. Observe and report any repairs or damages in work area to Head Camp Attendant.
4. Comply with all WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), and Food Safe standards.
5. Comply with all ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services policies and procedures.
6. Any other duties as assigned by Camp Manager, Human Resources or Operations Manager.


STAFF SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

Head Camp Attendants are responsible for the supervision of all Camp Attendants and Janitors working in ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services facilities. Numbers of employees under supervision are dependant on the particular ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services facility assigned, and fluctuate to match business needs.

INTERACTION WITH PATRONS AND PUBLIC:

The Head Camp Attendant provides respectful and courteous service to all ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services clients and employees. Interaction and communication with clients and employees may be carried out by telephone or in person.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Head Camp Attendants are required to perform a variety of physical duties within the position. A list of general physical requirements is provided below:

• Must be able to lift, carry, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders or stairs
• Do a combination of standing, walking, squatting, kneeling or sitting.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand work, which requires full use of both hands.
• Ability to work with arms above shoulder height.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

All Head Camp Attendants are required to work on a rotational schedule. Hours worked will transpire during weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. This position may be required to work split shifts. Head Camp Attendants generally work in a very remote location where there is limited access to and from the ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services facility with extended travel to and from site. Travel to and from site will be provided by ARAMARK. Head Camp Attendants will be required to perform duties in indoor and outdoor working conditions. Head Camp Attendants primarily work alone with little or no supervision.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Head Camp Attendants must possess good communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
2. Must possess excellent customer service skills.
3. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little or no supervision.
4. Head Camp Attendants must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.
5. Head Camp Attendants must have 1 or more years experience in housekeeping or a related field of work, preferably the camp catering environment.
6. Head Camp Attendants must have 2 or more years experience in a managerial role.
7. Head Camp Attendants must be fluent and literate in the English language.
8. WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification is mandatory.
9. First Aid certification is an asset.
10. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), Basic, and Advanced Food Safe training job or site specific.
11. Knowledge of all ARAMARK Remote Workplace Services policies and procedures.
